The newest Warner Bros. summer comedy, Tammy, premiered on June 30th in Hollywood starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon.Tammy (McCarthy), was recently fired from Topper Jack’s fast food restaurant and returns home only to find out her husband is being unfaithful. She quickly packs her bags and sets out on a trip to Niagara Falls with her drunk grandmother (Sarandon). From finding love in a bar to robbing a Topper Jack’s to bail her grandmother out of jail, Tammy continues to stir up trouble.
THE FIRM, formerly known as Samantha Sackler Productions, took over the famous Mel’s Drive-In Restaurant as well as the adjacent parking lot for the premiere after party. By covering the parking lot with tan astro-turf and completely surrounding the perimeter of the lot with a combination of wood-slatted walls and hedging, we were able to completely transform this empty parking lot on a busy Hollywood street into the perfect canvas for our own Topper Jack’s Restaurant. We created a full truss system to encase the existing Mel’s Drive-In Sign, which towers over 25’ high, to create a massive 16’ wide Topper Jack’s sign. A combination of eye-catching yellow and red furniture from Designer8* was used throughout the party along with vibrant yellow and red lighting to create a fun party atmosphere. The servers each wore visors and shirts like the restaurant workers from the film to add to the fun kitschy environment. Guests enjoyed a delicious menu with popular Mel’s favorites from their famous french fries to an assortment of milk shakes, many of which were served in custom containers featuring the Topper Jack’s logo as if you had ordered it from a real Topper Jack’s.
