Great effort at TIFF collaborating with Paramount+ for the world premiere of ‘On The Come Up’. This coming of age tale is based on the New York Times #1 best-selling novel by Angie Thomas (The Hate U Give) and is the feature directorial debut of Emmy-nominated actress Sanaa Lathan. The premiere took place at the iconic Princess of Wales Theatre and was followed by an electrifying after party at Marbl Toronto. The venue was completely transformed with custom branding and graphic treatments throughout including lyrics and framed photos from the film. Guests had the opportunity to ‘step into’ the film via a custom built 3-sided boxing ring complete with faux brick backdrop for a rap battle photo moment unlike any other. The evening also featured music by DJ Tendaji Lathan, stunning florals, an abundance of oversized candles and delicious OTCU themed specialty cocktails.
